Golden Valley Farmhouse

  • The light filled farmhouse with cathedral ceilings has exquisite pastoral views of Glenora (Valley of Gold). No wonder it is called Golden Valley House! Visit the farm animals or farm-to-table restaurant by day (Friday-Sunday from Mar-Oct.) or stargaze at night. Watch the farmers tend the vegetables which you can cook up in the spacious open kitchen. Biking and hiking trails and swimming within minutes. Family friendly! Vineyards close by, too. Hot yoga classes available on the farm, too.

  • There are three spacious bedrooms with one king and two queen size luxury beds. The rooms are designed for comfort and relaxation. We also have an queen air mattress for your convenience.

  • Guests have a welcoming private entrance with a front porch and back balcony and master bedroom balcony. Some have called the view a quintessential Cowichan Valley experience.

  • John & Katy’s place is very special with a lovely deck that overlooks the cow pasture. The cafe is only open on the weekends and we were coming in on a Monday - so we ordered food beforehand and it was in our fridge waiting for us. The pizzas and desserts were delicious. All questions were answered by Katy promptly and Danny was on the property if we needed anything. I slept in the comfortable pull out couch while my friend had great sleeps in the master bedroom. It’s a pastoral place to stay in the Cowichan Valley.

  • We had a very lovely stay! While it's not fancy, the space is roomy and quite pleasant. The bedroom overlooking the farm was our favorite. We slept with the windows open and listened to the frogs all night, and waking to the fresh air and the sun shining across the fields was delightful. The cows were very entertaining, and to top it all off, the pizza, salad, and pie dinner we ordered from the restaurant downstairs was delicious. All in all we loved the farm.

  • Beautiful pastoral setting. Loved hearing the frogs, and the smell of the wood burning pizza oven downstairs. Pizza is delicious and the Nettles Cake is a real treat for dessert! Super friendly and welcoming staff in the cafe. Very spacious suite with the most comfortable beds!! We all had a fabulous time with everything we needed at Alderlea Farm. We will return!

  • Our stay at Alderlea Farm exceeded our expectations! The place is very spacious and equipped with everything we needed. Highly recommend the restaurant if it’s open…the pizzas were delicious. Katy was super friendly and gave lots of great tips for local hikes & swimming spots!

  • Pleased to write another 5-star review, after our most recent stay, for such a home-y and beautiful space. Home-y means fabulous high beds and quality linens, geothermal floors, large comfy classic furniture, organic self-care products, and a perfect spacious kitchen with full fridge and gas stove. Beautiful means softy hued azured walls, rugs and artwork, fresh flowers on the table, and a full view of pastoral beauty from the balcony: fields, trees, cows and skies. Its such an inspiring place. After two 3 day stays, I am spoiled for anywhere else. Alderlea Farm raises the bar on every aspect of hospitality and service. My only concern is that it is available when I need to return to Duncan again!

  • A heavenly country farm suite in the quietest, most superb location right in the heart of Cowichan Valley wine country. Pet-friendly, beautifully decorated, lovingly designed and cared for. A pastoral gem and home away from home with the sweetest and most thoughtful host in Katy (and John). They kindly open their hearts as much as their farm and are always happy to provide a suggestion for a beautiful trail to walk or run nearby. I have stayed in many great places with beautiful views, but John and Katy's place is simply the best airbnb I have ever had the luck, pleasure and honour of staying. I just hope I can book it next summer as I know everyone who stays here will feel the same way -- I just want to move in and never leave, it's my dream house!

  • John and Katy’s place as stunning. Beautiful house. They were super accommodating letting us check in early so we could get ready for a wedding. Definitely recommend this place, wish we stayed longer.
